‘Weird’ pregnant woman arrested for allegedly being pregnant
A pregnant woman has been arrested in Georgia for allegedly having an abortion.
Police said they arrested a 34-year-old woman who was allegedly carrying a fetus for more than one month.
Police spokesman, William H. Stewart, said they searched her apartment and found the fetus in a plastic bag.
They said the woman was arrested for aggravated assault.
The arrest comes amid a wave of anti-abortion protests across the country.
On Sunday, the Georgia state legislature passed a bill that would make it a felony to end a pregnancy if the fetus was more than 24 weeks pregnant.
The bill, sponsored by Republican Rep. Mark Hill, would also make it illegal for an abortionist to perform an abortion even if the patient is pregnant.
