Woman arrested after taking baby for adoption
SANTA ANA, Calif.
— A pregnant woman arrested on suspicion of child abduction in Santa Ana has been charged with felony child abduction, authorities said.
The Santa Ana Police Department said Thursday that 28-year-old Terri A. Martinez, of Santa Ana, was arrested Wednesday after a welfare check.
She was booked into the Santa Ana jail and booked on suspicion that she committed a felony for the act, said Lt.
The incident happened around 2:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Trombly said.
He said the child was taken by Martinez from a neighbor’s home, but he couldn’t provide details on the woman.
The woman has been held without bond and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
The woman’s lawyer didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
